The Northern Irish premium manufacturer Avalon is sitting on a rare treasure: 135-year-old Brazilian mahogany, which rested near Seville for generations, where it was able to age in peace for over a century. The procurement was made possible by the new owner of Avalon Guitars, John McCartin – himself an excellent musician.
Combined with our desire for a 12-fret Small Performer with an elegant open headstock and new logo, a dream has been created for 12-fret enthusiasts who love the sound of Irish guitars, but also want the characteristic "boxiness" sound of classic parlor and small-body models. Appealing, warm, rich in mids, and with the fast tone response of the cedar top – ideal for fingerpickers and blues players who want to sound neither too dry nor too sweet. Visually, the S15 presents itself as a simple, elegant Small Performer with elaborate flame maple binding and an abalone rosette.
