For Dermot McIlroy, TF stands for "Twelfth Fret," which means that the guitar neck joins the body at the 12th fret, as is the case with all of our guitars.
The size is that of the AS series. This is a very fine and beautifully crafted instrument featuring a combination of reclaimed redwood and English black walnut, a rarity for fingerpickers and blues players who should definitely keep an eye out for it, as Dermot McIlroy does not build many 12-fret models. The delicate, bell-like sound is rounded off with a beautiful, warm mid-range, as can only be heard from a McIlroy.
Material and Construction
- Redwood & Walnut: Similar to cedar, the solid redwood top ensures high dynamics and fast articulation. Back and sides made of English walnut provide classic warmth, mids, and depth – a true McIlroy specialty.
- Neck: Three-piece mahogany, combined with an ebony fretboard for wonderful stability and playability.
- Feel: With a scale length of 650 mm and a nut width of 45 mm, the guitar offers plenty of room for precise playing.
