The Leho LHG-O14M is an all-solid 12-fret parlor/000 guitar with a remarkable history: The Leho brand – primarily known for its ukuleles – collaborated closely with renowned Canadian luthier Jean Larrivée on its guitar line. He not only helped with the construction of the manufacturing facilities (including precise humidity control) but presumably also designed the guitar. The result is an exceptionally resonant and dynamic instrument that meets professional standards. A look inside reveals a construction similar to a Larrivée (I hear a slight clearing of the throat). This guitar is ultra-rare, as production was discontinued years ago for reasons unknown. A true collector's item, therefore.
The 12-fret variant differs from the 14-fret standard models by a wider nut width of 45 mm and a string spacing at the bridge of 56 mm – significantly more space for fingerstyle playing. The neck joint at the 12th fret shifts the bridge further towards the center of the soundboard, which gives the instrument noticeably more bass and volume despite its compact parlor dimensions. Comes with a perfectly fitting Leho luxury hard case from the factory.
Material and Construction
- Top – Solid AAA Sitka Spruce (Quarter Sawn): Subtle bearclaw figuring underlines its character.
- Back & Sides – Solid African Mahogany: Warm, mid-focused tone with plenty of character and sustain – ideal for fingerstyle and singer-songwriters.
- Neck – One-piece Mahogany, Dovetail Joint: Traditional, hand-fitted dovetail joint for excellent sustain and long-term stability.
- Fretboard & Bridge – Indian Rosewood: Clear articulation and comfortable playability. Nut width 45 mm, string spacing at bridge 56 mm, nut and saddle made of real bone.
- Binding – African Padauk: The reddish Padauk wood creates an elegant visual contrast to the mahogany body.
